Overnight CarAmel French Toast

OVERNIGHT CARaMEL FRENCH TOAST

Seriously this is the best thing to happen to stale bread....

1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup brown sugar
2 TB light Karo syrup

Cook above, stirring constantly until thickened.
Spread on bottom of buttered 9"x13" baking dish.
Layer sliced bread over this - pretty much any kind works, but I like French or a heavy grain bread. Stale works best.

Mix together:6 eggs, pinch salt, 1 tsp vanilla,1 cup milk.
Pour egg mixture over bread, cover and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, bake uncovered at 350 for 40-45 min. (If it starts to get too brown at the end, cover with aluminum foil for remainder of baking time.)I've also tried adding thinly sliced apples on the bottom and that's very good.
