Cherry Bars

Cherry Bars

1 cup butter flavored Crisco
1 3/4 cup sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 large can cherry pie filling

Cream together Crisco and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Spread 1/2 of the batter into a greased jelly roll pan. Top with pie filling. Use a teaspoon to drop remaining batter on top. Put in a 350 degree oven for 5 minutes. Take out and spread around with a knife. Continue baking for 35 to 40 minutes. Frost with thin powdered sugar frosting while hot.

3 T milk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar
