Caramel Apple Appetizer

Caramel Apple Appetizer

Wash and peel a large apple. I used a granny smith.
Using a melon baller, make little balls from the meat of the apple. About 6 balls per apple.
Place in a bowl and sprinkle with lemon juice.
Fill cups or a muffin tin with your toppings (if you want a wide variety – crushed oreos, nuts, marshmallow fluff, peanut butter, sprinkles, etc)
Melt caramel in a medium size bowl
Either use toothpicks or 1/3 of a bamboo kabob stick to pierce the apple. Put the stick in the round side so that it sits well on the flat side.
Dry your apples or the caramel won’t stick
Dip the apple in the caramel
Transfer the apple to the toppings and twirl
Stand the apples upright in mini muffin papers, a muffin tin, or on a piece of waxed or parchment paper and let them chill in the fridge to harden.
